Rd1 race 3
13 Mar 2011
After a wet warm-up session this morning, which felt terrible but saw me fifth on the timesheets, the sun came out and I finished today’s dry first race fifth in the Superstock class and tenth overall in GP1. Importantly, I went faster and stayed near my best pace more consistently. That shows that I’m learning […]
Rd1 race 1
12 Mar 2011
I finished the first race of the year fifth in class, satisfied to have lapped a bit faster and brought the bike home safely. I got a terrible start so that’s something I’ll need to work on over the weekend at the same time as honing the set-up. The pace at the front of the […]
Rd1 Qualifying report
The season is now officially underway! I’ve qualified third in the Superstock class and eighth overall in GP1 against the tuned bikes, out of 31 in total.
StompGrip Traction Pads
20 Dec 2010
Think of this as soft handlebar grips for your knees. The tacky, lumpy surface lets you grip the tank with your knees much better than the painted surface you spent ages polishing. Why grip the tank with your knees?
Zone Products CNC discs
You may not be surprised to hear that aftermarket discs outperformed the OE discs, delivering more braking power and better feel in combination with my favourite Performance Friction PFC95 pads.
Donington race four
24 Oct 2010
The last race of the year took place in glorious sunshine at the best track in Britain and I won by 12 seconds with a new lap record of 1m13.8s, completing my third clean sweep in a row. I had time for another fat wheelie too. There is no better way to end the season. […]
Donington race two
23 Oct 2010
I won race two by a small margin from Andy Denyer, after he’d led the first half of the race. I took my time again, making sure my tyres were warm, and then worked my way up to him. Once I took the lead Denyer stuck with me so I had to push hard to […]
Donington Park preview
20 Oct 2010
The season finale is here and, with the championship already locked down, the aim is simply to have fun. Of course, that means riding to win, just like on any other weekend.
Mallory race four
10 Oct 2010
Race weekends don’t get much better than this. I won the last race by 11 seconds, setting a new lap record of 55.0s along the way. That completes the set of all four race wins, all four fastest laps, pole position, the lap record and the championship. I was never headed for even an inch […]

Mallory race three
Another good win, by 13 seconds this time, though I was a bit gutted to miss the lap record by a few hundredths of a second. Amazingly Chris Matthews nabbed second place on the last lap having started on the back of the grid. Very well done to him. The last race is in two […]
Mallory race one
09 Oct 2010
I led the race from flag to flag to win by eight seconds from Andrew Plaskitt and Mark Andrew third. That means I need only one point in the next race to seal the championship. Of course, I’d still like to get as many wins as possible for the year… Wish me luck Wilko
Streetfighter A champion!
I won the race and with it the championship. I’m absolutely buzzing and it’s great to have a load of friends here to enjoy it with.
Overtaking at speed – Peril up ahead
06 Oct 2010
Meet Mark Stone, Britain’s unluckiest motorcyclist. Each month we tackle the legal aftermath of Mark’s riding mishaps. Today, a simple overtake quickly turns into a tussle with the reaper
Brands race 3
30 Aug 2010
Another clear win for me, though this was a two-part race owing to a messy crash involving my team-mate, Nigel Davis. Although it looked bad, I’m glad to report that he’s fine and the bike isn’t too bad. Chris Matthews was second in my class and Mark Andrew third. Barry Utting won class B. In […]
Brands race 2
29 Aug 2010
Short version – I won! The rain stopped an hour before the race and the sun came out so the track was drying fast. I checked the circuit with ten minutes to go and it was still damp so I went for my harder wets which work like intermediates. Thanks to brilliant help from good […]
Brands Hatch practice and qualifying
28 Aug 2010
It feels great to be back at Brands, the place I consider my home circuit. After last year’s bad luck I really want to do well this weekend. Usual apologies for the lateness of this blog and the absence of a proper preview. It was another week of ridiculous hours at work and everything else […]
Cadwell race three
08 Aug 2010
I won! And my friend Sam rode amazingly in the first CB500 race to get third in an incredibly exciting ten-bike battle. He was also promoted to second in yesterday’s race after several riders were found to be cheating. We’re all so proud and happy for him. In my race I got a great launch […]
