I won the race and with it the championship. I’m absolutely buzzing and it’s great to have a load of friends here to enjoy it with.
Although I won by eight seconds it wasn’t a very easy race. My tyre was way past its best and my visor was misting up. My friends Sam and Greg were giving me a pitboard showing me the gap behind me which meant I was more relaxed and for the last lap they made the board in this picture.
Thanks so much to S&B Automotive Academy, RJW Consultancy, White Dalton Motorcycle Solicitors, Dunlop, JHS, the whole Cox family, Andy, Rob, Nige and, of course, my gorgeous wife. This feels awesome and wouldn’t have been possible without so much great help.
The 2008 season was my novice year, and I entered Thundersport’s top class, GP1, on a GSX-R1000 K4. Racing on a shoestring, with no back-up at all and riding the oldest bike on the grid, I scored strong results against fierce competition. These performances earned recognition and praise from commentators, organisers, and rivals alike, culminating in the club’s Rookie Of The Year award.
