I’m really happy with that as this whole weekend is about learning the bike and refining the set-up.

So far the ZX-10R has been a bit awkward in the tight corners. Once I’d stopped blaming myself and thinking I’d forgotten how to ride a bike, I worked out some changes to make and chipped away at it. I’ve made more changes in the same direction ahead of the race so hopefully it will be better again.

The Superpole race today is 18 laps and will test every rider’s endurance. In the sessions so far I’ve been really happy with my fitness and the hundreds of miles of cycling and thousands of push-ups seem to be paying off. The race is at 3pm – I’ll post the result by about 4.

Wish me luck.
