I crashed after my brake stuck on. What can I do?
05 Mar 2026
I have recently bought an old Suzuki GSX-R1100 having wanted one since I was a child. I love a classic sportsbike, and while the engine is solid and dependable, the bike was owned by someone who had suffered sudden hearing loss and had resultant balance problems. The knock-on from that was he dropped it on […]

Tribute Riding
26 Feb 2026
My nan was a proper trailblazer. Her husband died young, and she raised my mum and uncle on her own whist working full time.

Busted for Holding a Phone… Literally
19 Feb 2026
I live in the Peak District, and I’ve seriously got into green lane riding over the past few years. I’m now working my way through the Trans Euro Trail (TET) which has been fantastic and, like a lot of riders, instead of having a dedicated SatNav I use my smartphone mounted on the handlebars. I […]

Who’s A Solicitor?
12 Feb 2026
I was riding home on my Kove 800X when a van pulled out from a minor road to my left, directly in front of me. I had no chance of stopping and t-boned him, losing 3 teeth, fracturing my spine and pelvis and breaking 3 ribs. Christmas isn’t looking too good but I’m still here […]

I am firmly of the view that the MAMIL is the biggest threat to us bikers. As you will be aware, this is an acronym for the “Middle-Aged Man In Lycra” who ride bicycles. They are the scourge of the earth round our parts riding three abreast and wreaking havoc. Anyway, a few weeks ago, […]

I crashed on a bag of plaster left in the road. Can I claim against anyone?
29 Jan 2026
I was riding on a damp and drizzly autumn day last year. There was still some light, and as I went around a bend in a line of traffic moving at about 40mph on a moderately sharp bend (the traffic is calmed from 60mph to 40mph for this bend) my bike shot out from underneath […]

My frame’s failed out of warranty. What can I do?
22 Jan 2026
I bought a bike, brand new, from a franchised dealer. Crash bungs were fitted by them but oddly I cannot find an invoice for these. Shortly after the warranty expired, the frame started to crack – and obviously the bike is unrideable.

I’m in for £16,000 for a hire bike I didn’t really need. Do I have to pay?
15 Jan 2026
My bike was knocked over in a parking bay by a car driver. The driver left contact details on my bike and with the supermarket, which also captured the whole thing on CCTV, so no major problems. But I seem to have entered a nightmare world. I phoned my insurer, and the call was answered […]

A car wash dropped my bike and my insurer won’t pay. I’m at my wit’s end
08 Jan 2026
I took my 2022 Husqvarna Norden 901 to my local ‘cash-only’ car wash after a bit of mud plugging. I’ve been going there for years and the lads know not to jet wash linkages and bearings on filthy bikes. The lad who always likes cleaning my bike zoned in on me, we had a chat, […]

Exhausting Procedure

I mainly use my Tracer 9 GT for commuting to work and ride the same route every day, part of which involves a fast, sweeping A-road. It’s always my favourite part of my ride – up until a couple of days ago when I got flipped off whilst going around a gentle left-hander.

Moped Mayhem
25 Dec 2025
I recently purchased a brand-new moped from a dealer that has since gone into liquidation (it was a limited company), and I only managed around 300 miles before it broke down.

No Tyre Excuse
18 Dec 2025
I bought a second-hand Suzuki GSX1400 off Facebook last winter. It was a non-runner, but I have been tinkering with bikes all my life and after a couple of weekends in the shed, it was up and running.

Bollard Bother
11 Dec 2025
About six months ago, me and my clan had a holiday booked. As I fancied using the bike, my wife took the kids in the car to my parents during the day. The plan was that I would finish work, hop on the bike and go and meet them all later that evening.

Courier Corner Cutting
04 Dec 2025
Originally, I started off as a motorbike courier delivering parcels, but as the years have gone on, the world has changed, and the power of the internet and email basically killed off the bulk of that work.

Rear End Rights
27 Nov 2025
I have commuted into Manchester every day for the last three years on my Kawasaki Versys 650. I have had loads of bikes over the years, some bigger, some smaller, but this bike has been phenomenal.

Red Hot
20 Nov 2025
In the last couple of heatwaves, I haven’t been wearing full kit when riding home.

Injury Claims For (E)U
13 Nov 2025
I joined the TRF 10 years ago, and it has opened up a whole new world for me. With friends, I have ridden gravel and other unmade roads from the surprisingly warm Finnish Arctic in June to the unsurprising heat of the Moroccan Sahara in March. I’ve discovered bits of my homeland I never knew […]

Be Prepared
This is not a legal Q&A but a legal lesson about biking abroad. Earlier this year I was away touring with my good friend Mr Gomez (aka Gogo Gomez) and some other pals. Some of you will know Gogo from being on track with his R1 and his legendary dreadlocks. We were touring Switzerland, Italy, […]
