Aftermarket Levers
18 Aug 2016
I bought a sports bike about four years ago. I added aftermarket brake levers among other things. About a month ago, the manufacturer contacted me with a recall on the front master cylinder. I took it to the dealer who completed the work and off I toddled… for about three miles.

Living Room Storage
11 Aug 2016
I hate the state. Have they not got anything better to do? I bought an old Norton off my mate to add to my collection (the wife ain’t too happy as it’s in our living room!). He had been riding it last year legally on the road.

Dipstick Solicitor
04 Aug 2016
I am part-way through my claim after some old biddy knocked me off my Bandit 1200 and a trial has been set for August. Liability has been admitted but the problem I have is with the medical evidence my dipstick solicitor has obtained from a supposed ‘medical expert’.

Careless Driving Scooter
28 Jul 2016
I was out with some mates riding our scooters at night. We were mucking about racing each other as you do.

Taxing Times
21 Jul 2016
I’m lucky enough to have four bikes in my stable including two old Fireblades. Anyway, long story short is over the winter I made a Statutory Off Road Notice (SORN) declaration on all the bikes.

Pigs on the run
14 Jul 2016
I was on my daily commute to work on a dual carriageway when a pig (yes a pig!) escaped through the farmer’s old broken fence and ran straight out in front of me causing me to swerve, crash into the central reservation and fall off. Not my best day out ever.

You Pay Monkeys…
07 Jul 2016
I was riding my fairly old FireBlade along a straight stretch of rural Suffolk on a 60mph A-road. I saw an Isuzu pick-up and trailer waiting to turn out of a farm to my left. I rolled off the throttle, just in case.

Did I stirrup some trouble?
30 Jun 2016
I had an altercation with some horse riders while I was out on my Yamaha R1, which is fitted with aftermarket exhaust cans that are not approved for road use.

Is filtering finding fair?
23 Jun 2016
I was knocked off my bike while riding up the inside of a line of traffic. A driver pulled into my path, out of a side road to my left, having been flashed out by a van driver who was a little bit ahead of me.

Knock out blow
09 Jun 2016
What happens if you have no memory of an accident? Do you just make it up? Will the courts buy your version of events?

A horn ain’t noise pollution
02 Jun 2016
Old cases often refer to drivers or riders ‘sounding their horn,’ but the use of the horn has come to be seen as more of a rebuke than a warning and sometimes as an excuse for road rage.

Will Brexit affect bikers?
26 May 2016
What happens to bikers if we leave the European Union? Over the years, the EU has been involved with – or blamed for – legislation connected to everything from border controls and import duties to the riding test and horsepower limits. What will happen if we vote to say in or stay out?

An ordeal over a wheel
19 May 2016
I was hit from behind with quite a clunk, which tipped me off my Triumph Tiger 800. Luckily I received only bumps and bruises, but because I hit my head on the kerb I want to claim for my helmet as well as the damage to my bike.

Don’t let the Red Mist get you
12 May 2016
One of the fairly common accident scenarios I get is when riders overtake drivers who do something peculiar when the rider is alongside.

Right turn, wrong turn
05 May 2016
I was waiting to turn right into a pub car park with my wife as a pillion when a rider came flying down the outside of the traffic, heading straight towards me.

He’s Behind You!
28 Apr 2016
Screwed from behind? And then the insurance company follows suit? What should you do next?

Break the ice
21 Apr 2016
Sky, road, sky, road, sky, road… hedge. That was my view after I hit ice and clattered off my CG125. This trashed the bike and broke my arm. Now imagine an upturned tortoise laying on his shell with his legs moving, trying to right himself. That’s how I looked as I am a portly middle […]
