It was also time to finally get my hands on the championship trophies – one to keep and one to hold for a year that gets every winner’s name added – which were presented by racing legend Jeremy McWilliams. I received a surprise award too, the Lord of the Lap Records trophy for holding more class records than anyone else at Thundersport. It was presented by Robert Fearnall, the circuit manager of Donington Park.
That was fitting, as not only is that one of my favourite tracks, I also hold the Streetfighter lap record on the GP circuit and both old and new versions of the National circuit. Hopefully some of my lap records will last a while when I move on to another class, but more on that later…
