Gavin is a Solicitor and the Managing Partner at White Dalton Motorcycle Solicitors. Gavin’s love of law began with work experience at his local County Court (at the tender age of 16). Being able to clerk for the resident Judges and visiting Circuit Judges cemented his desire to pursue a career in law.
Law offers a wide range of options and after working for some of the largest Defendant law firms in the country (Morgan Cole, who merged and are now known as Blake Morgan LLP, and Berrymans Lace Mawer, who also merged and are now known as Clyde & Co) Gavin couldn’t turn away from civil litigation.
Litigation takes a special type of lawyer. Weak litigators do fall by the wayside and litigation involving motorcyclists is almost always the toughest. General road users can tend to have an ‘anti-biker’ mentality with allegations of excess speed and unlawful filtering all too commonly alleged. Having been mentored by Andrew Dalton, of White Dalton Solicitors, since joining the firm in 2012 Gavin got to grasp with these issues early on and continues to fight the biker’s corner in both civil and criminal cases.
Combined with his love for anything with an engine, Gavin fitted in naturally at White Dalton Motorcycle Solicitors and has, to date, recovered millions of pounds worth of compensation for his biker clients. Gavin also leads up the legal corner with Al Fagan of 44Teeth.
Gavin is the firm’s Compliance Officer for Finance and Administration (COFA), which ensures the proper running of the firm and complying with relevant regulatory requirements.
When not in a court room, Gavin enjoys tinkering with his restored 1999 Suzuki TL1000R. He has ridden the Nurburgring on his Kawasaki ZZR1400 (where he hit the limiter at 186mph) and toured Europe and Africa on his BMW GS and GSA. He also enjoys track days and wearing out his knee sliders.
Outside of the office he has served as a Police Officer for Surrey Police (9 years) and Thames Valley Police (4 years) with his last posting being on the Roads Policing Unit.
At home he enjoys a rather more sedate life, raising his two young children with his wife and their dog, Winston.
