Riding a bike without an MOT
There is a legal requirement for any vehicle aged 3 years or older to have a valid road test certificate (MOT) which must be displayed in or on the vehicle. The offence carries a fine of up to £1,000 but you cannot get points on your licence for this. However, your insurance may not be valid without an MOT so you may also be prosecuted for no insurance, which can carry up to 6 points, a fine of up to £5,000, possible disqualification and even community service or jail.
Facing prosecution? Contact our sister organisation Motor Defence Team on (0800) 2800912 or go to their website at www.motordefenceteam.co.uk
