Before setting off to France, John had Fog/Spot lights fitted to his F800 GS. Here are some photos of the riding lights fitted to his bike and a short review from John in France
The new lights are good. They are the fog light/spot versions rather than the HID lights which means that they offer increased visibility whilst riding normally but are not too ‘blinding’ for other drivers. I’ve already had a fair number of drivers go to pull out and you can see them ‘clock you’ with the lights and then pull back out of the way.
Basically, as far as I’m concerned, they’re doing what they need to. I think that when the nights draw in I’ll probably invest in the HID versions which can be mounted with these spots so that I can have a better main beam. The stock lights on the F800GS are rubbish so I think it’ll definitely be a worthwhile investment for night-time riding in the winter.
