Intense battle – and victory

Somehow I knew that today’s races would be different. Maybe it’s the presence of the TV cameras. The pace was savage from the start and both Andy Denyer (Triumph) and Chris Matthews (Moto46 KTM) got by as I wheelied too much off the line. What followed was the most intense race I’ve ever had.
After swapping places a few times I fought through to the lead, only to make two mistakes and get pushed back to third again. I planned my passes, made them stick, and got past the back-markers effectively to take the win. The margin of two seconds didn’t reflect what a close race it was. This win means more than any other yet.
Suddenly, the Streetfighter A championship looks a lot closer and tougher. Fourth placed Rob McNealy (KTM) is a top supermoto racer new to road racing and he’s learning fast and sure to be a contender for the rest of the season along with Andy and Chris.
One thing is for sure though, I’m here to win and I want to keep doing it. I’ll give it everything again in the second race.
Wish me luck.
