The motorcyclist is riding their bike along a road and approaches a junction. They may have right of way or may be required to stop and wait for traffic lights or stop signs. As the motorcyclist approaches the junction, they must be cautious and observant of other vehicles on the road and any pedestrians that may be crossing.
At the same time, another vehicle, such as a car or truck, is approaching the junction from another road or direction. The driver of the other vehicle may not see the motorcyclist, or they may misjudge their speed or distance. The driver may also be distracted, impaired, or simply fail to yield to the motorcyclist.
As the motorcyclist enters the junction, the other vehicle collides with them, striking the side of the motorcycle, often with significant force. This type of collision is known as a T-bone or broadside collision, and it can be extremely dangerous for the motorcyclist.
The impact can cause the motorcyclist to be thrown from their bike, resulting in serious injuries. The motorcyclist may also suffer from road rash, which is a type of abrasion injury that occurs when the skin rubs against the tarmac.
The severity of the injuries depends on various factors such as the speed of the vehicles involved, the angle of impact, the protective gear worn by the motorcyclist, and the overall health of the individual.
