Mallory GP1 and Streetfighter races
by Jamie Wilkins on Oct.22, 2011, under Jamie Wilkins
Riding in the beautiful weather today was joy incarnate. The bike is working
brilliantly and is loads of fun.
In the long GP1 race I was 12th overall and 6th Superstock (kind of). Three
of us were covered by less than a second, though I was third of the trio. It
was great to fight with the GP1 bikes though.
Then, ten minutes later, I was back out in the Streetfighter race. This time
I had more pace thanks to getting pulled along in GP1 and running a softer
rear tyre, so I quickly pulled away and won by a massive 20 seconds.
I’m really looking forward to tomorrow but for now there’s a great evening
with friends to enjoy.
Brands race 3
by Jamie Wilkins on Sep.18, 2011, under Jamie Wilkins
I was 9th, with a destroyed rear tyre costing me the drive I needed to get
onto the two bikes that were just ahead. It was another really fun race
though.
In case you’re wondering, had I been in the Streetfighter class I’d have won
every race comfortably. Even so, I’m really pleased that I entered GP1
instead.
Thanks to all my sponsors, especially Rob for letting me ride the GSX-R
again. After the race we swapped the wheels, changed the gearing, refitted
the numberplate and he rode it home. No other race bike was ridden home from
here today!
Time for the long-ish drive home, without any trophies but with plenty of
satisfaction.
Snetterton race 3
by Jamie Wilkins on Jul.17, 2011, under Jamie Wilkins
With a huge thunderstorm looming, we were racing the weather as much as each
other. Ten minutes after we finished it rained so hard that the paddock
flooded instantly and everyone ran for cover.
The race was hard but fun. I gave it everything and went a bit quicker but
was 6th in class this time and 9th overall again. I had a few big slides so
I know I was pushing hard.
Time for the long drive home now. Thanks for reading and supporting me!

I had very mixed emotions prior to completing this challenge. On the one hand I was very nervous as I have never completed more than 150 miles in one go on the Bandit. (continue reading…)
