Mallory Park qualifying
by Jamie Wilkins on Oct.09, 2010, under Jamie Wilkins
I’m on pole for the weekend, ahead of Andrew Plaskitt and Mark Andrew who are both going well. Keith Smith isn’t here as he’s sick, so get well soon Smiffy.
More surprisingly Chris Matthews is also absent today. I spoke to him yesterday and he told me that the championship was practically out of reach anyway and that he had a one-off chance to race in the UK Short-Track series today so he’s doing that instead. He’ll be here tomorrow to experience starting from the back of the grid.
Of course, that makes it more straightforward for me to wrap up the title today. I need 26 points which is two 4ths or, preferably, a win plus one more point.
The races are at 2pm and 5pm and I’ll try to post an update about an hour after those times.
Wish me luck.

Brands race one
by Jamie Wilkins on Aug.29, 2010, under Jamie Wilkins
I hope none of you reading this find what I’m about to write in any way boring or predictable, because I rode my heart out and the result is really exciting for me.
I won. By 17 seconds. And I smashed the old lap record down to 49.6s. Before the weekend I’d thought how cool it would be to get under 50s on a Streetfighter, but I never imagined that I’d get so far under it.
Keith Smith was second, Chris Matthews third and Andy Denyer fourth. That’s boosted my points lead to 85 as things stand now.
There were quite a few crashes, including my team-mate Nigel Davis. What he didn’t know was that he was leading class B at the time as runaway points leader Barry Utting has already fallen. Happily, there were no injuries.
We’ve just had a downpour so the track might be wet for the second race. That’s ok as I have two options of tyre for damp and wet conditions. With a big points lead, I won’t be taking any risks. I’ll let you know how it goes later. Wish me luck.

Cadwell qualifying
by Jamie Wilkins on Aug.07, 2010, under Jamie Wilkins
Second – by 0.18s! The pace is scorching here with the top three all in mid 1m36s. Chris Matthews pipped me in the last few seconds of the session to take pole. Andrew Plaskitt is third, just another 0.2s behind me. It’s going to be a close and exciting race.
Both of them live very close by so they’re Cadwell experts. Hopefully I can learn a few things to go quicker again.
My bike and tyres feel fantastic, so I think there’s more to come. With the BST wheels fitted since our last visit there’s a big boost in every aspect of performance. In between the stress of trying to go as fast as possible, I’m having loads of fun riding it.
Wish me luck!
Snet race two
by Jamie Wilkins on May.02, 2010, under Jamie Wilkins
Three seems to be the magic number. Nigel and I were both third in class again in race two. That’s a fantastic achievement for Nigel so early in his rookie season and he keeps getting faster.
For me, I can’t help feeling a bit disappointed at being off the pace of Chris Matthews, who won again convincingly. I’ll try to work out where I’m losing the time and do better tomorrow.
Thanks to everyone helping me keep my chin up!
snet race 1
by Jamie Wilkins on May.02, 2010, under Jamie Wilkins
It stayed dry for race one. Nigel rode brilliantly to finish third in class B. I got a good start but didn’t have great pace and also finished third in my class. Chris Matthews won with Andrew Plaskitt second.
Although it’s dry, it’s very cold so we’re all wearing as many layers as possible and sheltering from the wind.
