Snet race 4
03 May 2010
My battery is dying so this will be short! I was second to Chris and fought off Andrew so I’m satisfied. Nigel was third in class B completing a great weekend for him and eight podium places out of a possible eight for the S&B Automotive Academy team. Pics and points to follow in the […]
Qualifying
02 May 2010
When good plans backfire… Few things are more important than racing, but my wife is one of them so there was no way I was going to miss her birthday on Friday to travel to Snetterton. Arriving later on Saturday after a long drive meant missing practice and first qualifying. That was ok, since qualifying […]
snet race 1
It stayed dry for race one. Nigel rode brilliantly to finish third in class B. I got a good start but didn’t have great pace and also finished third in my class. Chris Matthews won with Andrew Plaskitt second. Although it’s dry, it’s very cold so we’re all wearing as many layers as possible and […]
Snet race two
Three seems to be the magic number. Nigel and I were both third in class again in race two. That’s a fantastic achievement for Nigel so early in his rookie season and he keeps getting faster. For me, I can’t help feeling a bit disappointed at being off the pace of Chris Matthews, who won […]
Snetterton preview
29 Apr 2010
The fastest track on the calendar awaits in Norfolk this weekend. Many British circuits are on the sites of old airfields, but none quite so obviously as Snetterton. It takes little imagination to picture its two huge straights as runways. Speed and power are the first things that spring to mind as necessary ingredients for […]
Pembrey race three
11 Apr 2010
This was a race of attrition. Three class A bikes didn’t start, including Carl Marsden, and another fell on oil dropped by one of the supermotards (aka super-retards) in class C. They aren’t doing much to endear themselves. Several class B bikes also crashed at various places. In the restarted five-lap race I was careful […]
Pembrey race four
Another comfortable win though such was the level of attrition that only one other Streetfighter A bike finished. We really need more entrants as it’s a great class. The biggest news is that my team-mate, Nigel ‘Broadband’ Davis, placed third in class B in only his second event. He had a great scrap too. What […]
Qualifying
10 Apr 2010
Second on the grid is ok. It puts me on the front row with a clear run at the first corner. Carl Marsden is on pole, a few tenths ahead. My plan is to give him a race from the start and not let him get a gap. Hopefully I’ll find a little more pace […]
Pembrey day one
Another blog, another apology. Sorry for not posting results yet (it worried my nan). Here’s a brief rundown on both races. I was nervous before the first race as Marsden had been quicker in qualifying. I had a plan, but even if it worked I knew it would be a tight race. I got a […]
Pembrey preview and practice
09 Apr 2010
First off, apologies for not blogging more in the last few weeks. I’ve been working so many hours that I’m looking forward to this race weekend for a rest. Pembrey in south west Wales is the venue for round two. It’s a flat circuit and a short lap of around one minute. Although it looks […]
ThundersportGB hits your TV
23 Mar 2010
The first round of the championship will be shown on MotorsTV (Sky413, Virgin 545) at 9.15pm this Thursday (25 Mar). There was great racing in every class, especially the Streetfighters. Look out for the closest finish of the day – just 0.02s – in our first race, plus a special interview with me and my […]
0.027s can be an eternity
14 Mar 2010
That’s how much I lost the race by, having been mugged at the Hairpin on the last lap and almost repassing by the line. Carl Marsden won, I was about a metre behind and half alongside him. That’s now three winners in three races and something extra to play for in this afternoon’s final outing. […]
Mallory race 4
I got the win from Chris Matthews after Carl Marsden crashed on the warm-up lap. That took the pressure off a bit so I could focus on staying ahead of Matthews without pushing too hard on a rear tyre that was way past its best. It looks like this season will be spectacular. Thanks to […]
Qualifying
13 Mar 2010
I’m third on the grid for this weekend. That’s a little disappointing in itself, but it was the first time I’d ever ridden the bike in the dry. The other two have done lots of testing so I’ll try not to beat myself up too much. There are some tyre and brake issues to look […]
First race, third place
I rode as hard as I could, I promise you, but I just didn’t have the grip to go faster. Chris Matthews won in fine style and Carl Marsden was second after we had a decent battle.
Race two
I won. And it feels great. Carl was second and Chris third this time. It was a hard race and I had to fight back from third at half distance. After the slight disappointment of this morning it feels all the sweeter. It’s also a relief to know I can fight for wins and that […]

Season and Rd1 preview
The 2010 season starts this Saturday at Mallory Park. Part of the club racing idiom is not knowing who you will be racing until you sign in on raceday morning. The pecking order won’t shake out until after qualifying, at the earliest. One (big) step up, in the British paddock, all the riders and teams […]
