Should riders wear dayglow jackets and white helmets?

Should riders wear dayglow jackets and white helmets?

28 Oct 2011

As a starting point, I do not wear a flourescent jacket or a white helmet unless I am working by the side of the road at a scene visit – so I can compare how drivers react to my usual riding gear of black Alpinestars textiles or leather, Rukka textiles or the Black Aerostich and […]

Mallory - last race

Mallory – last race

23 Oct 2011

I won the last Streetfighter race by 20 seconds, enjoying riding hard for the hell of it. Between us we took the decision not to go out for the last GP1 race. My rear tyre is finished so I’d be off the pace and at risk of getting lapped by the leaders who will be […]

Streetfighters and GP1 races

I won the Streetfighters race comfortably and then fitted a new soft tyre for GP1 which got me 12th and this lap time.

22 Oct 2011

Riding in the beautiful weather today was joy incarnate. The bike is working brilliantly and is loads of fun. In the long GP1 race I was 12th overall and 6th Superstock (kind of). Three of us were covered by less than a second, though I was third of the trio. It was great to fight […]

Mallory, Streetfighters race 1

Mallory, Streetfighters race 1

Back to winning ways! I got away and won by 7s. It feels great to win again and it’s a reminder of just how tough GP1 really is. Two more races this afternoon, GP1 first.

I got pole in Streetfighters by a second, which was nice, and qualified 13th in GP1 despite going nearly a second quicker again. This looks like being a real rollercoaster weekend. The sun is out and I’m simply happy to be here.

21 Oct 2011

As previews go, this one is rather late. I wholeheartedly apologise. By the time anyone reads it I’ll probably have finished qualifying. But then, until a couple of hours ago I wasn’t sure exactly what sort of weekend I needed to preview. The first big shuffle came last weekend when my ZX-10R was sold. It […]

Good Afternoon one and all, I hope you are all enjoying this final blast of summer to get out there and ride your bikes before we find ourselves under a blanket of snow

Oulton race two

Oulton race two

08 Oct 2011

I was 5th in class and 9th overall and I’m really happy. Conditions were drying all afternoon and it was a tough choice between wet or dry tyres. I went with wets, along with the majority of the grid, but nearly all the track was dry. Luckily, the few wet patches evened things out. I […]

Oulton race one

Oulton race one

What a race! I was 6th superstock and 12th overall from 21st on the grid, and I beat Chris Barnes too! I made lots of changes to the set-up before morning warm-up and the bike was loads better, with the stability needed to use all the power. In the race I got a decent start […]

Oulton qualifying

07 Oct 2011

There are 35 bikes in GP1 this weekend as riders from other series and the British championship squeeze in some extra racing before the end of the season. It makes a hard class even tougher. The session was wet, with more heavy rain falling part way through. It was also littered with crashes. I pushed […]

06 Oct 2011

It’s 10.36pm. I’m in the back of my van in Oulton’s paddock, tucked up in ‘bed’ (two sleeping bags and an airbed with a slow puncture). The thin metal roof stops the rain from actually landing on my face but otherwise repeats the weather conditions with me verbatim. The temperature outside is identical to in […]
