BMF Tail End Show Report
by Paul on Sep.24, 2009, under Paul Henry, Shows
Jo and I have just finished the Tail End show in Peterborough. We would both like to thank everyone who came by for a card, chat or cup of tea. We both met lots of lovely people and had a great weekend. It was also really nice of clients past and present to come and say hello.
We have to give a special mention to a certain biker from the South Midlands area (who will remain anonymous) who entertained us immensely with tales of his recent breakdown. What’s funny about that?, I hear you say…. Well he had borrowed his son’s bike, because he was too lazy to move it out of the way to get to his own. His son’s motorcycle happens to be 125cc Marauder… strangely enough, the biker brotherhood failed that day. Noone stopped to assist… and so he pushed the bike home. The crown on that story is that he was so ashamed to be caught riding a 125cc Marauder which had broken down that he pushed the bike 8 miles home wearing full leathers and helmet with the visor down so no-one would recognise him. Apparently it took over 2 days for his lid to dry out. Respect to Graham from Oxon! Oooops.
A further special mention to all from the TL/Thumper Zone who once again looked after us in a spectacular fashion once the gates had closed. I’m really not sure though that it was actual ‘magic’ that made those Chinese fire lanterns fly though AJ. Jo had a rather hair raising ride on a rather cool trike- which isn’t your standard trike at all!! Thanks guys.
On a wander round the show-ground we also managed to source Andrew’s ideal next bike for when the standard GS gets too much for him to handle in his doteage. Ideal as it adds stability and more room for gadgets!!!
New photos and results added
by Jamie Wilkins on Sep.21, 2009, under Jamie Wilkins
Hi. Quick blog to say that I’ve added the first few images from Anglesey and
the results page is now up to date with full downloadable PDFs.
Also, congratulations to Mick Riddle on entering the top five overall
following a great run of results. You can see him and his green Kawasaki
chasing me in one of the Anglesey pics. Note the Royal Air Force logo on his
leathers – Mick gets my instant respect, and not just because he might bomb
my house. Actually, Mick is a chef, like the hardest Hollywood forces hero
of them all, yes, Steven Seagal. No stove is safe.
The other rider in the pics is Barry Utting on his Streetfighter B CBR600FI.
He has an awesome riding style derived from his days on 250GP bikes, and we
had some good battles. There will be more pics uploaded soon. PLJ Photo got
some brilliant stuff as usual.
The bike repairs are progressing, albeit slowly. I removed the swingarm
yesterday and laid it next to the new one. It’s quite clearly bent, though
I’ve still no idea how it happened in a low-side crash. The other new parts
are due in a few days, so it looks like we’re on track for a big finale at
Rockingham in a fortnight.
You stay classy, San Diego.

‘Storming
by Jamie Wilkins on Sep.13, 2009, under Jamie Wilkins
The last race of the weekend was loads of fun. I pushed hard to try to get on the podium again and I missed it by just 0.4s. A last lap lunge at Keith Smith didn’t quite work. I lost too much on the straight to outbrake him. Denyer won with Matthews second, keeping the points battle interesting.
The post-race dyno showed the FireStorm only making 103bhp, which explains the speed gap. Nevertheless, it has been real fun to ride and I can’t believe how capable it is for a bike that Honda never intended to go nearer to a track than the spectators’ car park. Big, big thanks again to Rob Garland for the generous loan and to Mark Hooper for driving it up to Anglesey. Even bigger thanks to S&B Automotive Academy and White Dalton Motorcycle Solicitors, brilliant sponsors and supporters both.
I’ll get some pics up to the gallery soon.
