Hello, just to let you know, the next demo is on 1st July 2009 to object to the Westminster plans to make the bike parking tax permanent. Hope you can make it. Further details on www.notobikeparkingtax.com

Remember the introduction of this charge came about following a popular petition asking for MORE free 2 wheel parking spaces (just one car bay in every road). This is actually a clandestine central government response. Parking charges will initially make it appear that there are ample 2 wheel parking spaces.

It was a great turn out and ultra impressive seeing all the bikes coming in to Victoria Street. They kept coming, and coming and coming. I know as my arm nearly fell off waving them past the emergency vehicle bay teh police were keeping clear in front of city hall. Maybe they hoping we would set fire to it. As virtually all the police were also riding motorbikes you can hardly get angry with them as they were like minded and doing their job. Unfortunately I don't think any councilors took a look outside. 17 floors up at the back of the building they were in their Ivory tower oblivious to reality.
